Hampta Pass is one of the most breathtaking and adventurous treks of Himachal Pradesh located in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. Hampta Village is located below the Sethan Village. The highlight of this trek is that you will get to enjoy the views of nature from both sides of Kullu Valley and Lahaul Valley. The Hampta Pass is at height of 14,100 Ft, distance of 26 km and takes 5 days to complete.
The trek trail is filled with alpine flowers, conifer forest, snow covered glaciers, wildflowers fields. This trek is easy to moderate so if you have little experience of trekking, you can surely go for this one. Peaks like Mount Indrasen, Deo Tibba and many more can be enjoyed when you reach the peak. Overview
Hampta pass gives you the enchanting views of the mountains ranging in both Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The trail will be filled with beautiful landscapes, lush pastures and meadows and snow filled valleys. The trek is a true beauty of nature and the best part will be finally crossing the Hampta Pass which is at a quite high altitude of 4300 m and the walk will be through raw forests and camping in the wild.The best time to do this trek are from May to June August to October. As Hampta is best when done during snow, it is better to do this trek during the winter months. The breathtaking beauty of Lahaul Valley will leave you enchanted. You will see shepherds with their cattles to graze. Also you will find a rare grass here called Neeru which is said to be very good for the cattles.
The highlight of this trek is Chandratal Lake – Crescent Moon. It is one of the best attractions in the Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh and is famous for its beautiful camping location. The Chandratal lake is a popular attraction in the Lahaul Spiti district and is a reward for the die hard trekkers who have crossed the difficult pathways of Hampta and reached here to complete the trek.
The trek will start with an easy trail and will get difficult with distance and twists and curves will begin and the route is filled with dense forests of pine trees and maple trees spread from Jobra to Chika. Sights of colourful rhododendrons and wildflowers on your way to Balu ka Ghera, then the shallow lakes on the way to Hampta pass and ultimately the panoramic enchantment of Pir Panjal which will leave you awestruck with its eternal beauty. At the topmost peak, you will be struck by the evergreen and magical beauty the Himalayas have to offer to you. Its snow covered peaks sparkled by the rays of sun is the reward you will get for all the hard work and tire of the trek. After touching the top,you will descend to Shea Goru, the descent will be extremely steep and if quite difficult filled with rocky paths so you need to be prepared in advance to take such a step. The trek will come to an end with reaching Chhatru and then drive to Lake Chandratal filled with sparkling water and shepherds roaming in the area. The Hampta trek is both good for a beginner or an experienced one. The trail is easy to moderate and gets difficult when you are about to reach the Hampta Pass. But preparation and usage of right equipment will make this trek easiest.

The reason of the name “Hampta” Hamta Village located in the Pir Panjal region located at the height of 14000 ft, this village is mostly filled with shepherds, trekkers, rivulets, huge mountains and meadows.
